Gold Coast Active and Healthy Toddler Sports Community Program
Our Partnership with Active and Healthy Gold Coast
Over the past three years, we have built and developed a strong partnership with the Gold Coast City Active and Healthy team. Together, we have created a vibrant community program that thrives, especially during these times of increased living costs. Your local councilor's investment in the Active and Healthy program has been instrumental in creating free or low-cost community activities, activating parks and centers, and employing small local businesses like ours.
The Active and Healthy Community Programs run on the Queensland School Term / Time Table
What You can Expect in our Classes….
Our classes and programs are designed to create an opportunity your child to learn and develop in a fun, supportive and positive environment.
Over the 10 weeks our team will deliver a ‘Sports Themed program” that has a variety of different Sports that include Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball, Tennis, Rugby, AFL, Cricket, Athletics plus a number of themed weeks such as Teamwork challenges, Obstacle Challenge, Ball Games and Fun Movement Games.
Whilst we love Sport and Fitness, we believe that by you child being part of our weekly programs and our team providing a nurturing environment with engaging activities, we can support the holistic development of your toddler, helping them to grow into confident, curious, and capable individuals.
We create these through 5 key foundations;
1. Physical Development
Gross Motor Skills: This includes skills that involve the use of large muscles in the body to perform movements such as walking, running, balancing, jumping, throwing, catching and kicking
Locomotor Movements : this includes Hopping, Skipping, Galloping, Sliding and Leaping
Fine Motor Skills : Fine motor skills involve the use of smaller muscle groups in the hands, fingers, and wrists. Through our sorting and collecting games the children will improve their pincer grasp and categorization skills.
Hand Eye Coordination : Hand-eye coordination is the ability to synchronize hand movement with what the eyes see. We achieve this through our games that have the children catching, throwing, rolling and bouncing balls and through bat/ racket based games and kicking skills.
2. Cognitive Development
Exploration and Discovery: We create a safe environment for toddlers to explore and discover new things through games and challenge based activities
Problem-Solving Skills: Children will be asked to follow instructions to complete the activity. We will often create an opportunity for children to make their own decisions on how to achieve this.
Cognitive Development: Through colours, music and counting
3. Independence and Self-Help Skills
· Giving the children age-appropriate tasks to develop a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.
4. Social and Emotional Development
Group Activities: through our variety of games, challenges and skill based learning the children will learn to interact, share, and develop their social skills.
5. Positive Reinforcement
Praise and Encouragement: Our team will celebrate the children’s achievements, no matter how small, to help build confidence and self-esteem.
